Snorri and I are thrilled to have you with us. It’s always nice to get to know who’s making and who’s enjoying the yarn, so read on for the story of how Psych Ward Yarns came to be.
My service dog, Snorri and I are on a mission to create amazing yarn. Yarn that is both luxuriously soft, and full of vibrant colors. We draw our inspiration from my extensive travels (I love road trips!) and my own crazy imagination.
I am a wife and mother of 3. My husband is a fish fanatic, an awesome supporter, and my biggest fan. My children are 20, 18, and 11 and all have such unique personalities. Having two grown children has been an adventure all it’s own. And then there is Snorri, who came into my life one year ago and made all the difference. You see, I am bipolar with PTSD (post traumatic stress disorder) and anxiety disorder, and the little furry fella brings awesome comic relief to my days.
For me, dyeing is a form of meditation, an artistic expression that gives joy when stresses might otherwise overwhelm. Mixing and matching colors, blending existing colors to get the perfect shade, these are my labors of love combined with a powerful form of therapy. I am ever-fascinated by the science and art required to achieve the skeins that turn into your beloved shawls, sweaters, blankets, and FOs. I am thrilled to have you join me on this journey.
Happy crafting, friends.
